Ein einzigartiges forschungsorientiertes Lernumfeld finden Studenten an der 1946 gegründete Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra vor. Mit modernen Laboren und Vorlesungssälen, exzellenten Sportmöglichkeiten und Computereinrichtungen, drei Haupt- und weiteren fünf Fachbibliotheken ist die Universität hervorragend ausgestattet.

International genießt die ANU einen ausgezeichneten Ruf. Laut dem renommierten UK Times Higher Education Magazine 2009 ist die Uni in Australiens Hauptstadt die Beste auf dem fünften Kontinent. Auch das einflussreiche Ranking der Shanghei Jiao Tong University von 2009 sieht die Uni in Australien ganz oben.

Bachelor- und Masterprogramme werden in folgenden Fachgebieten angeboten: Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften, Asien- und Pazifikstudien, Betriebs- und Volkswirtschaftslehre, Ingenieurwissenschaften, Informatik, Jura, Medizin sowie in den Gesundheits- und Naturwissenschaften. Eine interessante Option an der ANU sind die über 60 so genannten kombinierten Bachelor-Programme. Studierende wählen zwei Fächer und können so in vier Studienjahren zwei Bachelor-Abschlüsse erwerben.

Internationale Studierende erhalten an der ANU umfangreiche Unterstützung und Serviceangebote. Neuankömmlinge können sich vom Flughafen abholen lassen und bekommen Hilfe bei der Suche nach einer passenden Unterkunft, ob Studentenwohnheim oder privates Apartment. Und wer sich Ratschläge einholen will, wie man am besten ein Essay strukturiert, kann sich ans Academic Skills and Learning Centre wenden.

Der Campus der ANU liegt mitten in der Hauptstadt Australiens und umfasst etwa 1,5 qkm Fläche. Canberra ist eine freundliche, saubere und multikulturelle 320.000 Einwohner-Stadt mit einer jungen und weltoffenen Bevölkerung. Hier ist nicht nur der Sitz des australischen Parlaments, des obersten Gerichts und vieler diplomatischer Vertretungen. In Canberra findet man ebenso die National Art Gallery, das National Museum, diverse Cafés, Restaurants, Clubs, Kinos und Theater.
