Die UWA, unweit des Zentrums von Perth gelegen, gehört zu den besten Unis Down Under: Die Uni erhält für 2009 die höchste Fördersumme pro Student vom Australian Government`s 2009 Learning and Teaching Performance Fund. Im undergraduate Bereich ist die Uni sogar als die Nummer Zwei Australiens gelistet und auch in internationalen Rankings schneidet die UWA regelmäßig gut ab. Wer im Bereich Naturwissenschaften, Gesundheitswissenschaften (u.a. Genetik, Biomedizin), Wirtschaftswissenschaften oder Geisteswissenschaften (u.a. Indigenous Studies) forschen möchte, sollte ebenfalls die UWA in Erwägung ziehen. Deutsche Studierende schreiben sich besonders gerne für Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Jura, Gesundheitswissenschaften, Ingenieurwesen, Psychologie und Physik an der UWA ein.
Direkt am Swan River, 5 Kilometer vom Zentrum Australiens viertgrößter Stadt Perth gelegen, besticht die University of Western Australia auf ihrem Hauptcampus mit außergewöhnlicher Architektur in denkmalgeschützten Parklandschaften. Ebenfalls nur 5 Kilometer sind es auch zum Indischen Ozean, wo man an den herrlichen Stränden der Sunset Coast oder auf dem Inselparadies Rottnest Island entspannen kann.
