Erfahrungsberichte
Qualitativ hochwertige Studienprogramme, vergleichsweise geringe Lebenshaltungskosten und eine landschaftlich schöne Umgebung sprechen für ein Studium an der University of Wollongong (UoW). Die Universität bietet ein breites Angebot an Bachelor- und Masterprogrammen sowie Promotionsmöglichkeiten in den Bereichen Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Sozial- und Geisteswissenschafen, Naturwissenschaften, Informatik, Recht, Journalismus, Musik und Schauspiel, Kunst und Design sowie Psychologie.
Besonders renommierte Forschungsbereiche sind im Bereich der Rechtswissenschaften Transnational Crime Prevention sowie International and Comparative Law. Im naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Bereich liegen die Schwerpunkte der Uni im Bereich Elektrotechnik, IT, Telekommunikation, Maschinenbau, Mechatronik sowie Biotechnologie und Umweltwissenschaften. Wirtschaftswissenschaftler mit Schwerpunkt Logistik, Marketing und Public Health Management finden hier ebenfalls gut aufgestellte Forschungsgruppen.
Wiederholt gute Ergebnisse in verschiedenen Rankings zeichnen die UoW aus. 2009 stufte das einflussreiche Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking die Uni in New South Wales unter die besten zwei Prozent aller Unis weltweit ein. Der unabhängige Uni Student Report der Sweeny´s Research Group 2009 meldete, das Absolventen der UoW landesweit die Zufriedensten im Hinblick auf die Studienbedingungen an ihrer Uni sind.
Wollongong liegt direkt an der Küste und gilt als eine ideale Studienstadt: Mit 400.000 Einwohnern aus aller Welt ist die Stadt groß genug, um Studierenden ein abwechslungsreiches kulturelles Freizeitangebot zu bieten. Strände, Berge und Regenwälder ermöglichen zahlreiche spannende Outdooraktivitäten in unmittelbarer Umgebung. Sydney ist in 90 Minuten einfach zu erreichen. Auf der anderen Seite ist Wollongong übersichtlich und überzeugt mit einer entspannten Atmosphäre. Im Vergleich zu anderen australischen Städten sind die Lebenshaltungskosten in Wollongong gering.
